Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has seen rapid development in data intellectual property (IP).

In 2025, Nanming was named as part of the second batch of data IP pilot zones in Guizhou province. Meanwhile, the Guizhou company of China Southern Power Grid, based in the district, was recognized as one of the province's first leading enterprises in data IP – a dual milestone for Nanming's data IP development.

Nanming is utilizing the pilot program to deliver targeted, high-quality services.

On June 25, the district's market regulation bureau hosted a specialized training session for key groups, including foreign-related businesses, data enterprises, traditional artists, and time-honored brands.

Experts provided practical guidance on public information services, international dispute response, data IP registration and application, and IP-based financing, while also addressing participants' specific concerns through interactive question and answer sessions.

Nanming is also implementing a "one enterprise, one policy" model. It is offering tailored support for the Guizhou company of China Southern Power Grid to help it unlock greater data value during its digital transformation process.

Additionally, the district is promoting IP-driven development along Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street, home to over 100 cultural and creative enterprises. By conducting field studies with provincial experts, the local authority is addressing challenges such as trademark protection and data asset development, aiming to integrate cultural commerce and tourism projects more deeply with data IP innovation.
