Guiyang invests 9m yuan in establishing intl health airport

Guiyang Customs announced in September that it will invest more than 9 million yuan to promote the establishment of an international health airport at Guiyang's Longdongbao International Airport.

The International Health Airport is an international certification of the World Health Organization's ability to control the safety and health of international navigation ports. It is an upgraded version of the continuous improvement of the core capacity of a port.

As the only first-class port in Guizhou province, Guiyang Airport is not only an important gateway for the opening up of the province, but also a key block to prevent the spread of infectious diseases from abroad. The establishment of an international health airport is not only conducive to reducing the risk of epidemic introduction and promoting the construction of a healthy Guizhou, but also beneficial to the construction of a new highland for the inland open economy in Guizhou and the development of Guizhou tourism. 

In accordance with the 11 technical requirements for establishing an international health airport, including infectious disease control, vector monitoring, laboratory construction, Guiyang Customs planned to purchase equipment, expand reagent supplies and upgrade hardware facilities in order to further improve the port's check efficiency, inspection technology and examination accuracy and also to expand the laboratory's testing items, methods and capabilities.

The establishment of an international health airport requires five steps: a score 95 points through the review of the core capacity of the airport, submission of an application for the establishment of a health airport, approval for establishment through deployment, submission of the inspection forecast to the General Administration of Customs and the evaluation and acceptance by the World Health Organization, and grant of the "International Health Airport" certificate. 

Guiyang Airport has completed the first three establishment steps: On Nov 23, 2017, it passed the core capacity review with a score of 95.23, and received the pass for the establishment of an international health airport. On Dec 23, 2017, the Provincial Government submitted an application for establishment to the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. On Jan 26, 2018, the former AQSIQ approved the application. On August 13, 2018, the Provincial Government issued a work plan for the establishment of a health airport.
