​Nanming held the 2019 United Front Work Conference

The 2019 United Front Work Conference, or the Work Conference on Taiwan Affairs and the Ethnic and Religious Work, was held in Nanming district recently on Mar 19. Zou Jie, Secretary of the District Party Committee, gave instructions at the conference.

The conference conveyed the idea of studying and implementing the spirits of the national, provincial, and municipal united front ministers' meetings, Taiwan work conferences, and ethnic and religious work conferences. It summarized the achievements of the united front work in the whole district last year and deployed this year's work plans. The conference also arranged and deployed the ethnic, religious and Taiwan-related work in the district in 2019.

Zou pointed out that in the past year, the united front of the district attentively grasped the new requirements for work in the new era, fixed the positioning of targets in combination with the realities, formulated scientific planning and made steady progresses in all fields of the united front work. The members of the united front also pulled together and worked hard as a closely-bonded team. Thus, effective contributions have been made to the economic and social development of Nanming, exhibiting a good momentum of enthusiasm, unity and harmony.

Zou emphasized that in the new year, the united front of the entire district should thoroughly study and understand the important thoughts of General Secretary Xi Jinping on strengthening and improving the work of the united front, deepen the study and implementation of Xi's important instructions on the work of Guizhou, and firmly grasp the times, fix positioning and seize opportunities. It should set up the ideology of "a great united front" and strengthen the agreed measures to adhere to the initiatives of cooperation, constantly consolidate the common ideological and political foundation for unity and progress, and fully implement the policies and deployments of the Central, Provincial, and Municipal Party Committees.

The united front should also make efforts to promote multi-party cooperation and political consultation, strengthen the building of non-party representative teams, facilitate the prosperity and development of ethnic cultures, maintain harmonious and stable religious relations and promote the healthy development of the non-public economy and the related individuals. It also need to unite and guide non-party intellectuals and emerging social groups, as well as make innovations in the united front work for overseas students. 

Moreover, it should widely accumulate consensus, understanding, wisdom and manpower in order for Nanming to adhere to high standards, lead the way with high-level openness, and build the real economy integration development zone, the pioneering urban renewal demonstration zone and the social governance innovation application zone as planned, as well as comprehensively promote high-quality development.

The meeting demanded that the united front of the whole district should closely follow the principal line of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thoughts on strengthening and improving the work of the united front and follow the fundamentals of strengthening the party's central and unified leadership on the united front. It should carry out the work in a creative manner, strive to grasp the sense of the new era and new mission, take firm actions to construct new institutions and create new structures, and make efforts to show new presence and achieve new heights. During that process, key points will be highlighted, highlights will be further strengthened, and difficulties will be tackled, so as to promote the innovative development of the united front work. For the broad members of the united front and relevant departments, they must learn constantly, repeatedly and deeply, improve their political stances and guide the promotion of united front work in the region.

The meeting also addressed that it is important to keep making friends, provide good services to individuals outside the party, help them to solve practical problems, and do the best in solving their practical problems. The united front should persist in political leadership and actively encourage the democratic parties and the non-party people to fulfill their duties. It is also necessary to adhere to the high-standard positioning, exert creativity and proceed with the various tasks with innovative drives. 

Furthermore, It is required to adhere to the improvement of capabilities, upgrade the level of the united front work under the new functions and new tasks, and make contributions to the creation of the real economy integration development zone, the pioneering urban renewal demonstration zone and the social governance innovation application zone as planned for Nanming district, so as to present gifts to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with outstanding achievements.

Attendees include also leaders of the various units of the united front system and the principals of all townships, communities and departments of the district government.
