Updated: 2020-04-08

During the recent Tomb Sweeping Day holiday, also called Qingming, Nanming district -- in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- played host to 55,500 travelers and received 158 million yuan ($22.43 million) in tourism revenue, according to local media reports on April 7.

A report released by the China Tourism Academy said that people had shown a strong desire to travel after being quarantined over the past two months.

However, due to the lingering influence of the epidemic, short-distance tours and self-driving trips were the most popular ways to travel during the holiday, the report added.

In order to ensure the tourism safety of the Qingming Festival holiday, before the holiday all departments in Nanming district carried out special inspections and guided preparations of various safety plans and rescue measures.

On April 6 -- the last day of the Qingming Festival holiday -- Nanming district received 22,251 tourists, who spent an estimated 55.63 million yuan.
