Nanming district recognized for its flourishing building economy

Nanming district in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- was recently awarded a prize recognizing its flourishing building economy on Nov 17.

The district received the prize at the 2020 China Building Economy Global Cooperation Summit in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

The award currently has over 10 categories. It has been conferred for three consecutive years and is regarded as the highest award recognizing excellence in China's building economy.

The establishment of the "2020 leading urban area for building economy development in China" award aims to encourage and promote urban governments, to create an international first-class business environment.

At present, Nanming has formed two core areas for building economy. The total number of market entities there currently is about 110,000, ranking it first in the province. It has made itself one of the national top 100 districts in terms of comprehensive strength and has been one of the nation's top 100 districts in investment potential for six consecutive years.

In addition, it has been among the nation's top 100 science and technology innovation districts and the top 100 green development districts for two consecutive years.

In 2019, the district's GDP hit 82 billion yuan ($12.46 billion), up 9.5 percent year-on-year, while total retail sales topped 39.9 billion yuan, ranking it first in the province.

Moving forwards, the district plans to establish and improve its building economy development system and expand investment through big data, the modern services industry, among other things.

It will also focus on modern urban industry, cultural tourism and big health as core industries. And it plans to optimize its business environment, promote deep integration of buildings and industries and boost the high-quality economic and social development of the entire district.
