Nanming district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is speeding up establishing a complete social security system network, allowing more people to share economic and social development benefits.

The district invited senior human resource managers from crucial enterprises and entrepreneurial guidance experts to carry out training on issues related to enterprise production and operation, employment and social insurance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The training was carried out online via livestreaming activities.

These activities have increased the publicity of social insurance policies and boosted the insurance participation rate and actual payment rate.

In 2020, the number of people participating in basic pension insurance for urban employees reached 317,200, along with 114,600 people participating in unemployment insurance. A total of 170,500 people participated in work injury insurance, while 38,400 people were participating in urban and rural pension insurance.

To effectively alleviate the downward pressure on the economy brought about by the pandemic, the district also increased the implementation of social security relief and mitigation policies, effectively reducing enterprise labor costs and business burdens and helping enterprises to operate and develop smoothly.

In 2020, the district postponed the payment of social security fees worth more than 90.96 million yuan ($14.08 million) for 570 companies. The district also reduced or exempted social security fees for 12,173 companies, involving a reduction of 553 million yuan.
