During this year's Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Feb 11 to 17, the cinemas in Guiyang's Nanming district achieved box office revenue of 19.9 million yuan ($3.08 million), hitting a new record high. Guiyang is the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

In January, the district's cinemas achieved box office revenue of 11.01 million yuan.

Under the premise of normalizing the pandemic prevention and control situation, the district strengthened services to promote film consumption and increase cinema revenue.

The district is currently home to nine cinemas. All movie theaters were expected to strictly follow the relevant requirements to ensure the safety and order of the Spring Festival film market.

Over the seven-day break, the district launched activities for movie lovers who decided to stay in Guizhou over the holiday instead of returning to their hometowns.

"During film screenings, we do a good job of disinfection, enforcing capacity limits, measuring body temperatures, scanning health codes and registering people to ensure the full enforcement of anti-pandemic measures," said Li Jiamin, administrative manager of Huaxia Huizhong Cinema in Nanming district. "That way, people can enjoy watching a movie without having to worry."
