Renovation work on eight farmers' markets in Nanming district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has recently been completed.
The renovations were carried out at Xinlukou Farmers' Market, Wandong Farmers' Market, Lyuyuan Farmers' Market, Pantaogong Farmers' Market, Huaguoyuan Farmers' Market, Nanchang Road Farmers' Market, Duoyouduo Farmers' Market, and Hongyan Farmers' Market, covering a total area of 25,610 square meters.
In line with the Guiyang City Farmers' Market Standardization Reform and Upgrading Work Plan in 2021, Xinlukou Farmers' Market has been developed into a modern demonstration market, while the remaining seven have been standardized in accordance with unified guidelines and management.
Once the revamp work is completed, the stalls will be divided into several dedicated standardized areas for the display of fresh, live, raw, cooked and dry products.
Support facilities for ventilation, water supply, drainage, firefighting and sanitation are also set to be fully installed and upgraded.
In addition to the renewal of infrastructure, the markets will also make full use of the latest technology to introduce smart systems for payments, food traceability, electronic monitoring, e-commerce, data exchanges and logistics distribution—delivering greater convenience to merchants and consumers.
In addition, Nanming introduced Zhejiang Chengbiao Market Management Co to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the farmers' markets' operational model, implement market contract management and a booth bidding system, incorporate food safety, integrity management, standardized services and coordinated management into the operator management contract, and to promote innovation in business and management models.
