Nanming economy performs well in first nine months

In the first three quarters of the current year, the economy in Nanming district – in Guiyang city,  capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – grew steadily, achieving a GDP of 63.37 billion yuan ($9.51 billion), a 3.9 percent increase year-on-year.

The added value of the primary industry during the period was 102 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.6 percent, while the secondary industry was 21.12 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1 percent. The added value of the tertiary industry reached 42.14 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6 percent compared with the previous year.

Meanwhile, 33,146 new jobs were created in cities and towns in the district and employment overall reportedly remained stable.

From January to September, consumption in Nanming district was robust with retail sales of consumer goods of 47.74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent.

In terms of different industries, total sales generated by the wholesale industry came in at 130.37 billion yuan, up 11.2 percent, while its retail sales amounted to 30.65 billion yuan, an increase of 10.4 percent.

Revenue from the accommodation sector surged to 1.08 billion yuan, up 32.1 percent and the revenue from the catering industry leaped to 4.61 billion yuan, an increase of 37.7 percent.

In the first nine months of the year, investment promotions reportedly achieved excellent results, while the number of tourists arriving increased substantially. 

During the period, the actual use of foreign capital in the district was $183 million, up 11.2 percent year-on-year, while the funds in place for newly introduced industrial projects came in at 8.08 billion yuan.

In addition, the district's total tourism revenue reached 31.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.8 percent and the total number of tourist arrivals was 19.52 million, surging 54.4 percent.
