The Nanming district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is these days reportedly making every effort to develop its night-time economy.

The night-time economy refers to business activities between 6 pm and 6 am in the services sector.

Many Chinese cities, especially metropolises such as Beijing and Shanghai, have rolled out plans to support night-time markets.

Guiyang's Nanming district is also said to be actively responding to the trend.

Plans are for Nanming to establish night-time economy demonstration sites, providing more innovative night-time entertainment, as well as interesting stands and shops and other outlets and improving its service facilities.

The newly opened Qingyun Market is said to be a typical example of Nanming's progress in this endeavor. It has reportedly become a landmark in Guiyang, providing a broad and rich range of evening snacks, in the wake of its recent renovations.

Meanwhile, the operating hours of Nanming's museums, libraries, gyms and swimming pools are being extended. That's as the intervals between night-time cultural performances at the district's theaters, crosstalk societies and opera houses have been shortened.

Additionally, Nanming is building a new commercial belt along the Nanming River, linking city landmarks such as the Jiaxiu Pavilion, Cuiwei Garden and Huaguo Port.

The belt is expected to provide a series of night-time activities and things to do, including sightseeing, dining, shopping and cultural entertainment.

Statistics from Nanming's authorities show that from January to September, it received a total of 19.52 million visits, a year-on-year increase of 54.36 percent.

Revenue generated by tourism during the nine-month period came at 31.01 billion yuan ($4.65 billion), a year-on-year increase of 13.82 percent.

Moreover, the number of tourists spending the night in Nanming reached 3.78 million, up 3.17 percent compared with the same period last year.
