The digital economy has developed rapidly in Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province since 2013 and has become a key driver of economic growth.

In 2021, software and information technology service enterprises above designated size in Nanming achieved 3.27 billion yuan ($490.62 million) in operating income, a year-on-year increase of 28.8 percent.

Throughout the year, a total of 250 new real economy enterprises were deeply integrated with big data, more than any other district or county in Guiyang.

Meanwhile, 866 new 5G base stations were built in Nanming last year, achieving 100 percent outdoor coverage. The number of newly-constructed 5G bases in Nanming in 2021 ranked first in the city.

To accelerate the creation of a new digital economy industrial system and promote the high-quality development of the digital economy, Nanming established strategic partnerships with Tencent and Guizhou Qiyun Zhigu Technology Co to jointly build a new digital industry cluster in the district.

During the 2021 Guiyang Big Data, the country's third "Tencent Cloud Digital Economy Industrial Base" was established in Nanming, stimulating the construction of a new digital industry cluster in the district.

By the end of 2021, the Tencent base was home to 33 enterprises with a total output value of 691 million yuan, tax revenue of 15.63 million yuan and 333 employees.
