The first batch of five mobile nucleic acid sample collection workstations recently started operating in the Nanming district of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – in an initiative that is expected to make a real difference in the battle against COVID-19.

The workstations are located in the Nanming District Disease Prevention and Control Center, as well as in the health service centers of the Shachong Residential Community, Shanshui Qianchen Residential Community, the First Huaguoyuan Residential Community and the International Ecology City Residential Community.

A mobile workstation adopts a closed design and is equipped with an air-conditioning system.

Medical staff need only to use airtight rubber gloves extending from the window to perform operations such as disinfections, throat swabs and tube loading to complete nucleic acid sampling.

The process takes less than a minute and there is no contact with the sampled person throughout the whole process, to avoid cross-infection.

Meanwhile, a notice on the query process of nucleic acid test reports is also posted at a prominent place outside the workstation to facilitate the public to quickly query the report results.

The use of the mobile workstations is said to ensure the safety of the sampling personnel – and enables nearby people to conduct nucleic acid collections. It also improves the utilization rate of the site, making the nucleic acid sampling work safer, faster and more convenient.
