Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently announced its urban upgrading plan to advance new-type urbanization in the following year.

According to the plan, Nanming is expected to renovate 23,761 households in shanty towns in its jurisdiction.

The renovations will be mainly conducted in areas between Tuanpo Bridge and Taici Bridge along the Nanming River, which includes Xihu Road, Cuiwei Valley, Ruihua Valley, Zunyi Valley and Nanchong Valley.

The renovation of these areas will involve improving infrastructure and city functions, building unique business blocks and promoting local culture.

Meanwhile, 12,461 households in Nanming's six old residential communities, as well as 110 back alleys, will be renovated and upgraded.

Nanming also plans to build nine parking lots and around 4,800 parking berths in 2022.

The underground pipeline network, including the district's water, power and gas supplies, will be upgraded or renovated.

Over the past five years, Nanming's city upgrading efforts have already delivered impressive results. It has renovated 64 shanty towns, 10 old residential communities and 187 back alleys.
