As of Sept 10, Nanming district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, had issued 10.47 million yuan ($1.57 million) in funds for people in need, benefiting 10,289 households.
It was a move made by the local government to help residents in its jurisdiction amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak there.
People receiving such funds are mainly poverty-stricken residents, orphans, left-behind children, seriously-ill people, left-behind seniors and seniors living alone.
Moving forward, Nanming will learn more about the needs of local residents and provide relevant services.
