The whole-process disposal system of domestic waste in Nanming district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been further improved with the official operation of the Hongyan domestic waste sorting center in mid-October.
The center is located in Hongyan village and covers a total area of 2.2 hectares. It has received an investment of around 50 million yuan ($7.04 million) in total.
The center is one of three large-scale sanitation infrastructure construction projects in the Nanming Green Circular Economy Industrial Park. It features front-end garbage collection, centralized disposal, and terminal transfer.
The center's main production workshop has a total of three floors. The first floor is the garbage compression and loading workshop, the second floor is the garbage dumping workshop and control center, and the third floor is the data file storage room of the unit in charge of the center.

The center can currently handle about 600 metric tons of domestic waste every day.
It is equipped with four sets of horizontal domestic waste compressor units, and the daily processing capacity of a single machine is about 150 tons per day. One set is used for the collection and transfer of kitchen waste alone.
Meanwhile, in order to carry out front-end garbage collection on roads, courtyards, and backstreets and alleys in Nanming, the center purchased eight transfer vehicles each with a single-vehicle transfer capacity of 17 tons, and 204 vehicles with a loading capacity of 1, 3, and 5 tons, respectively.
This has reduced domestic garbage, increased recycling and strengthened harmless management throughout the district.
