Nanming District People's Congress kicks off

The second plenary of the 18th Nanming District People's Congress officially kicked off in Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province on Feb 15.

Of the district's 262 deputies, 240 members actually attended the second plenary, meeting the required number.

The deputies listened to and reviewed the work report of the Nanming district government. 

Liu Guijun, head of Nanming district government, delivered the government work report, reviewing the district's work in 2022 and introducing key tasks for 2023.

Liu said that in 2022, Nanming's GDP reached 100.54 billion yuan ($15.01 billion), making it the second district in Guizhou province and the first in Guiyang city with a GDP of more than 100 billion yuan.

In 2022, Nanming's industrial development was stronger, its modern service industry was more active, its urban functions were more complete, its rural revitalization was more rapid, and its people's lives were happier.

In 2023, the expected goals of Nanming's economic and social development are as follows:

The GDP of Nanming will increase by more than 6.5 percent year-on-year; the added value of agriculture, industrial and service industries above designated size will increase by about 5 percent, 9 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

The fixed asset investment in Nanming will increase about 7 percent year-on-year; the total retail sales of consumer goods are expected to increase by about 10 percent year-on-year; and the general public budget revenue will increase by about 6 percent.

Additionally, the added value of manufacturing, digital economy and green economy is expected to account for 6.5 percent, 47 percent and 48 percent of regional GDP, respectively.

More than 39,200 new urban jobs will be created, and the per capita disposable income of urban permanent residents will increase by about 7 percent year-on-year.

Deputies also listened to the work reports of the standing committee of the Nanming District People's Congress, the Nanming District People's Court and the Nanming District People's Procuratorate.

Reports on the Implementation of the 2022 Nanming National Economic and Social Development Plan and the 2023 Nanming National Economic and Social Development Plan (Draft) were delivered at the meeting.

Deputies also voted and approved the electoral measures for the second plenary of the 18th Nanming District People's Congress.
