Seizing opportunities from the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Belt and Road Initiative, Nanming district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has continued to accelerate its opening-up.
According to statistics from Guiyang Customs, Nanming achieved a total foreign trade value of 8.5 billion yuan ($1.22 billion) in 2022, and the actually utilized foreign capital in the district reached $73.54 million.
Over the same period, Nanming successfully held the China-Cambodia Cooperation Forum and the Guiyang-Macao Cooperation and Exchange Conference, which deepened cooperation between the two places. Nanming also introduced more than 10 foreign-invested enterprises to settle within the district, including the well-known cross-border e-commerce enterprise, Chemist Warehouse (CW).
In February of this year, Guizhou's first physical CW store officially opened in the Huaguoyuan Shopping Center in Nanming district. The store has adopted a new retail model of cross-border e-commerce, which combines online and offline sales to inject new vitality into the city's consumer market, and better meet the consumer needs of the public.
CW's operation in Nanming is an important achievement that will accelerate the construction of Guiyang's cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone. Meanwhile, Nanming will continue to stimulate its import trade, and further expand the scale of its cross-border e-commerce imports.
Moving forward, plans are for Nanming to achieve a total import and export value of 11.5 billion yuan in 2023. The total amount of actually utilized foreign capital in the district this year is expected to hit $16.50 million, and a goal has been set to attract 10 new foreign-funded enterprises to register in Nanming.
