Nanming district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been ranked 67th in China's top 100 list of prefecture-level cities' districts in 2023 known for their high-quality development.
That's according to a report released by Beijing Yicheng Economic Consulting Center during the 2023 China Fortune Summit.
The evaluation system for high-quality development of prefecture-level cities' districts, developed by the center, includes such comprehensive indicators as the area's innovative, coordinated, and green development.
Prefecture-level cities' districts represent the highest level of economic and social development, and the most densely populated spatial units in China.
They are important gathering places for various development factors. They also serve as the core engine of innovation-driven development and transformation, the main force participating in international competition, and key support bases promoting China's modernization.
At the end of 2022, there were 977 such districts nationwide, with a total land area of approximately 1 million square kilometers, a population of over 650 million, and a total GDP of nearly 80 trillion yuan ($11.51 trillion).
