In 2023, the Nanming River treatment project was selected by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as part of the second group of outstanding national "beautiful rivers and lakes" cases.

The Nanming River, the mother river of the people of Guiyang, has suffered from severe pollution since the 1990s due to the discharge of domestic and industrial wastewater, resulting in black, foul-smelling water and a gradual decline in its ecological health.

In recent years, Nanming district has persistently optimized its infrastructure, deepened pollution control, strengthened law enforcement, and invested in the construction of several submersible reclaimed water plants to restore the river's water quality.

Beneath the surface, staff members conduct regular inspections underground to ensure the stable operation of the reclaimed water plants.

Since 2023, the surface water in Nanming district as well as centralized drinking water sources have achieved a 100 percent compliance rate.

Additionally, the safe utilization rate of key construction land in the district now stands at 100 percent, along with the harmless disposal rate of medical waste.
