The "2023 Research on the Index of High-Quality Development in Chinese Small and Medium-Sized Cities" was recently released, with Nanming district in the city of Guiyang making the "2023 National Scientific and Technological Innovation Top 100" list, securing the 80th spot.

This marks an eight-place increase from 2022 and the district's fifth consecutive year on the list.

In 2023, Nanming focused on strategic industries such as electronic information manufacturing, big data, and technology services.

It recruited and nurtured high-level talent and conducted extensive visits to high-tech enterprises, key R&D institutions, and large-scale technology service industries, resulting in over 700 job openings and more than 600 new graduates choosing to work in the district.

Additionally, it established three teams to cultivate innovative and entrepreneurial talent.

In 2023, Nanming also intensified the cultivation of technology-based enterprises, improved the service system for small and medium-sized technology-based enterprises, established a local standardized evaluation mechanism, and accelerated the development of innovative enterprise clusters.

Last year, the district cultivated and certified 69 high-tech enterprises and included 207 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises.

In recent years, Nanming has continuously improved the policy system for incubators and implemented large-scale visits and services for incubators.

Data shows that as of the end of 2023, Nanming had established a total of 46 scientific and technological innovation platforms, accounting for approximately 15 percent of the city's total.

It incubated 933 companies, with 704 currently in the incubation phase, attracting around 2,406 innovation makers, creating 3,103 new jobs, and generating 2.05 billion yuan ($280.82 million) in economic benefits.
