Nanming district sees surge in summer tourism, cultural activities

Nanming district, a bustling area located in downtown Guiyang, Guizhou province, is experiencing a notable increase in tourism and cultural consumption this summer.

With its cool 23 C weather, picturesque landscapes, rich historical heritage, and convenient transportation, Nanming has consistently ranked among the "Top 100 Districts for Comprehensive Tourism Strength in China," drawing visitors from near and far.

Official data shows that in June, the number of overnight tourists in the district increased by over 10 percent year-on-year, with per capita spending exceeding the provincial average by 12 percent.

In the first half of this year, the district's large-scale accommodation industry saw a 15.6 percent year-on-year increase in revenue, while that of the cultural, sports, and entertainment sectors grew by 15.7 percent and travel agencies by 30 percent.

The strong performance can be largely attributed to the district's pleasant environment. From the clear waters and green banks of the river to the lush urban green spaces, from the stunning city parks to the picturesque rural landscapes, Nanming offers a comfortable and inviting summer climate with beautiful sights wherever you go.

Nanming also attracts visitors with its blend of culture and tourism. The district's historical landmarks have spurred new tourism trends such as costume photography. Many photographers can be seen near Jiaxiu Tower, taking photos of tourists dressed in traditional Miao attire.

In recent years, Nanming has explored its historical roots and developed streets integrating culture, tourism, and commerce, such as Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street and Caozhuangyuan Street.

After upgrading its cultural and tourism sites to be more consumer-friendly, the district also added cultural experiences and art-related leisure activities. Regular events such as the Guiyang Street Music Festival, shared pianos, and the Yongle Peach Blossom Run provide immersive cultural and tourism experiences for visitors.
