In recent years, Nanming district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been accelerating the cultivation of a digital industry system, striving to turn the digital economy into a new engine for high-quality development.

A significant milestone in this endeavor is the establishment of the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou Guizhou Sub-center, a testament to Nanming's commitment to enhancing both the quantity and quality of its digital economy.

In August 2023, Nanming and Sun Yat-sen University signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou Guizhou Sub-center and the Sun Yat-sen University-Guiao Big Data and Digital Economy Development Research Laboratory.

The center has already attracted six technology enterprises and institutions. These entities will collaborate on local empowerment through industry-academia-research cooperation and the planning of informatization projects.

Furthermore, the center has reached cooperation intentions with entities such as the Gui'an Free Trade Zone, Guizhou-Cloud Big Data, Guizhou Unicom, and Guizhou Science and Technology Museum.

These collaborations focus on areas such as the development of intelligent computing power clusters, computing power scheduling platforms, model training, and the integration of Hong Kong, Macao and Guizhou's computing resources.

Additionally, the center has established the "Guiao Science and Innovation School" talent training platform, which has donated informatics courses to 25 primary and secondary schools in Guizhou, Hong Kong and Macao, benefiting nearly 70,000 teachers and students.

Moreover, the center is promoting research into large models in fields such as bridge construction, traditional Chinese medicine, and smart elderly care.

For instance, the Guiao Beidou Smart Elderly Care Big Data and Intelligent Computing Integration Center project aims to explore the innovative applications of the Beidou satellite system in elderly care services, focusing on Guizhou while extending its impact across Southwest China and the entire nation.

This initiative seeks to deepen smart elderly care solutions, accelerate the improvement of the industrial chain, and create a "pilot sample" for Beidou's application in elderly care.

Driven by technology and data, platforms such as the Guiao Offshore Incubation Innovation Base have also emerged. Through the center, these platforms address language barriers for Guizhou farmers and enterprises through digital twins, while simultaneously creating value for IP, brands and supply chains.
