Nanming district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made significant strides in advancing high-quality economic and social development over the past year, achieving notable progress in modernizing its industries and enhancing overall efficiency.

In 2024, the district focused on creating several new consumption hubs, including Hala Block, Fangyuanhui Dolphin Plaza, and Guiyang MixC Mall. These shopping centers align with the district's "one belt, two circles, multiple points" commercial blueprint.

Capitalizing on consumption spikes during holidays and summer, the district hosted a variety of activities, leading to tangible economic growth and boosting consumer spending.

In addition to trade and commerce, Nanming also achieved strong results in other industries.

It capitalized on the establishment of the Guizhou Nanming Economic Development Zone to reinforce industrial growth. The district implemented a "one core, two wings" spatial development strategy and prioritized its "one principal, one distinctive" industrial focus.

Efforts to expand industrial chains and foster clusters cultivated a robust environment for industrial development. From January to November 2024, the output of industries above designated size in the district reached 24.93 billion yuan ($3.39 billion), with an industrial added value growth rate of 4.3 percent.

Nanming also harnessed the digital economy to drive productivity. It integrated provincial and municipal strategies, while prioritizing computing power, industry enablement, and digital transformation.

By accelerating the development of digital infrastructure, industrial digitalization, and data-driven governance, the district continues to support Guiyang and Gui'an in becoming a digital economic innovation hub. In 2024, revenue from internet and software service enterprises above a designated size reached a record 4.52 billion yuan.

Moreover, Nanming has significantly enhanced its cultural and tourism offerings by leveraging key resources, attracting visitors, and optimizing services. The district's focus on integrating culture, commerce, education, sports, and tourism has yielded personalized, smart, and diverse experiences for visitors. Ranking 13th among districts nationwide in terms of comprehensive tourism strength in 2024, Nanming continues to shine with its city brand, "Refreshing Guiyang, Picturesque Nanming".

Additionally, the district has prioritized the modernization of its agriculture sector. By developing signature agricultural products like the peach industry in Yongle township and strengthening the supervision of rural collective funds, assets, and resources, Nanming has fostered sustainable agricultural growth. Integration of agriculture and tourism further supports rural development. In 2024, the district's 29 administrative villages achieved an average collective operating income of 1.45 million yuan.
