Nanming district is one of the central urban areas of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, covering a total area of 209.34 square kilometers. It manages four townships and 18 sub-district offices.
According to statistics from 2019, the permanent population is 907,700, and the registered population is 624,000.
The district's average altitude is 1,260 meters, and the average annual sunshine time is 1,354 hours, making it one of the cities with the lowest ultraviolet radiation level in the world.
Location and transportation
Nanming is a notable hub of China's western region and has convenient access to both Guangdong province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport is located in the district and has opened more than 60 routes connecting to domestic and overseas destinations. The airport has an annual passenger throughput of 15 million.
Guiyang Railway Station, Guiyang South Railway Station and Guiyang East Railway Station are all located in the district.
Nanming has formed a three-dimensional transportation network comprised of aviation, railway and highway infrastructure.
Economic development
In 2024, the economic achievements of Nanming district were remarkable.
The district's GDP continues to rank second in the province and first in Guiyang, contributing 19 percent to the city's GDP growth.
Last year, Nanming recorded 24 A-level logistics enterprises, the highest in the city. Fixed asset investment reached 23.4 billion yuan ($3.24 billion), a 7.3 percent year-on-year increase, and construction and installation investment totaled 15.7 billion yuan, up 9.8 percent year-on-year, both ranking first in the city.
The district saw a net increase of 15,000 market entities, bringing the total to 199,000, the highest in the province. Additionally, retail sales of consumer goods reached 78.43 billion yuan, a 4.9 percent year-on-year growth, leading the province.
Nanming promoted industrial transformation and upgrading throughout 2024. It established the "one core, two wings" development layout, with the Nanming Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park as the core, the Ergezhai area as the southern wing, and the Hongyan area as the northern wing. Among the 19 newly introduced projects are high-tech enterprises such as Yuhui Electronics and Taixin Semiconductor.
Modern producer services also experienced rapid development. Nanming formed the Ergezhai logistics industry cluster, integrating warehousing, distribution, wholesale procurement, and logistics information services. The added value of the financial industry reached 10.22 billion yuan, accounting for 9 percent of the district's GDP.
Revenue from eight major service industries above the designated size totaled 17.89 billion yuan, up 14.7 percent year-on-year.
Scientific research and technical services grew 31.9 percent, while internet and related services increased 23 percent. Three new headquarters enterprises were also established, bringing the district's total to 10.
