During the May Day holiday, Guiyang's Nanming district received a total of 1.67 million tourist visits, marking a year-on-year increase of 16.4 percent. Tourism revenue surged to 1.43 billion yuan ($195.89 million), up 18 percent compared to last year, securing the top spot in the city.
The district's remarkable growth was driven by its diversified tourism offerings and enhanced service quality, catering to visitors' growing demand for personalized and high-quality experiences.
A total of 53 themed events and sub-events were held across key areas, including shopping districts, scenic spots, and cultural hubs. These activities, centered around the district's five core sectors – culture, commerce, education, sports, and tourism – drew in approximately 680,000 visits and generated around 21 million yuan in sales, a 59 percent increase from the same period last year.

One standout event was the Guiyang Roadside Concert held at Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street, which featured performances by local groups such as Qianyuefang and Zheergen Band. The mix of live music, street food, and immersive shopping experiences made it a popular choice for holidaymakers.
Over the holiday, Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street attracted around 784,000 visits, a 3.6 percent increase year-on-year, and generated 15.82 million yuan in tourism revenue, up 38.24 percent.
Accommodation also saw a boost, with high-quality, service-oriented hotels proving especially popular. The district's 10 star-rated hotels reached an average occupancy rate of 87 percent, hosted 15,400 guests, and generated 4.15 million yuan in revenue – a 10 percent year-on-year rise.
