As summer begins, Guiyang's Nanming district is buzzing with activity. With its cool climate and vibrant cultural offerings, the area is seeing a surge in tourists and a boom in cultural tourism.
On Qingyun Road, crowds gather to enjoy local food, scenic spots, and creative goods. As visitors stroll past tempting eateries and into lively market alleys, they're met with an array of charming cultural and handmade shops. Small yet stylish items, like fridge magnets, postcards, and fabric dolls, blend local culture with trendy designs, attracting the attention of many curious travelers.
Among them was Ms Huang from Malaysia, who visited with her sisters. "Your culture and food are so different from ours, it's all very fresh and exciting," she said, impressed by Guiyang's diversity and pleasant weather.
Landmarks like the Guizhou Ethnic Museum and the historic Jiaxiu Pavilion are also drawing visitors. To manage the growing popularity of museum visits during the summer, the museum has set up additional entry and exit lanes and extended its Saturday hours to 8 pm from July through September.
As dusk falls along the Nanming River, lights illuminate Jiaxiu Pavilion, turning it into one of the city's most romantic sights. Tourists wander along the riverbank, drawn to the elegant pavilion with its traditional architecture.
