The 2025 "Peach-Scented Yongle, Sweetness for All" Red Peach Picking Festival kicked off in Yongle township, Nanming district on July 18, inviting locals and tourists alike to enjoy a sweet and idyllic countryside journey.
Blending fruit-picking, cultural performances, and rural vitalization efforts, the event offered visitors a multisensory experience, a feast for the eyes, taste buds, and ears.
A highlight of the day was the lively "Peach King" Contest. Local farmers competed with their best peaches, judged on appearance, taste, sweetness, and weight. A panel of experts crowned the year's top peach, demonstrating the superior quality of Yongle's signature red peaches.
Around the main venue, themed stalls from local villages and enterprises featured fresh peaches, other vegetables, peach-flavored snacks, local delicacies, and traditional crafts such as Miao embroidery. Guests enjoyed fresh produce, sampled coffee and local foods, and explored the unique charm of the local culture, further enhancing the visibility of Yongle's red peaches.
To support farmers, the event also included a special agricultural support initiative. Companies signed procurement agreements with local villages, launching both offline and online sales partnerships.
Xigui Shangpin Agricultural Technology Co agreed to purchase 2.5 million yuan ($348,868) worth of red peaches from five villages, guaranteeing an income boost of 500,000 yuan for village collectives.
