Qingyun Road in Nanming District of Guiyang is rewiring Southwest China's night economy. Blending food, entertainment, and cultural creativity, the street has become a true summer hotspot.
Home to 540 businesses, Qingyun Road recorded over 10.64 million visitors and total sales of 430 million yuan ($59.97 million) from January to July 2025. July alone saw a daily average of 67,000 visitors.
By nightfall, the street is packed with crowds. At the popular "Zhouji Liuyishou Grilled Fish" restaurant, long queues have become the norm. "We open at noon, and by evening, we've already handed out 200 waiting numbers," said manager Yan Shengzong. "Even with 150 tables, it's not enough – most guests wait more than 50 minutes to be seated."
At 2 am, ride-hailing cars still lined the roadside. Didi driver Chen Lei shared, "Between 9 pm and 2 am, I'm constantly busy – no idle time. Sometimes I'm already picking up the next passenger before the current one even gets out of the car." He noted that he completes about 15 rides a night on Qingyun Road, earning nearly 40 percent more than during the day.
With its booming crowds and around-the-clock energy, Qingyun Road is proving to be a key driver in Guiyang's growing night economy.
