Guizhou international cycling race kicks off

The First Tour of Guizhou Park Province Road Cycling Race opened in Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, on Oct 18. Blending athletic passion with vibrant ethnic culture, the international event launched a five-day cycling spectacle across multiple locales in Guizhou, marked by a grand opening ceremony and a creative pre-race parade.

Following the opening ceremony, the pre-race parade became the highlight of the day. Cyclists set off in four groups from the Ethnic Unity Square in Guanshanhu district, passing through landmarks like Guanshan Bridge, Shuangyong Square, Fazhi Square, Guanshanhu Park, and the Guiyang International Conference & Exhibition Center.

Along the route, squads of people cheered on the cyclists, while colorful ethnic performances showcased Guizhou's warmth and vitality to both athletes and spectators.

Designed to combine professional competition with mass participation, the race stretches more than 760 kilometers over five stages, traversing multiple cities and prefectures across Guizhou. Starting from the Guiyang Caihu Rock Climbing Center, the route passes several of Guizhou's iconic landmarks, including Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun, Wanfenglin in Xingyi, Green Expo Park in Duyun, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in Leishan, and Fanjing Mountain in Tongren, before arriving at the China Tea Sea in Meitan.

The event weaves together athletic competition with Guizhou's landscapes and ethnic culture, allowing cyclists to become both participants and ambassadors of the province's colorful charm.

With a total prize pool exceeding 1 million yuan, the race has attracted top professional and continental cycling teams from over 27 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom and Russia. The event is more than just a contest of medals – it is a celebration of cultural exchange and sportsmanship, highlighting the unique appeal of Guizhou to the world.
