Qianyuefang, a music ensemble from Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is winning audiences with its innovative blend of traditional Guizhou folk music and modern electronic sounds.

Founded in 2024, Qianyuefang is made up of talented local musicians specializing in both traditional and contemporary music. The ensemble incorporates elements of Guizhou's traditional culture, including Dong Grand Song, Miao folk songs, and Bouyei traditional music, into modern arrangements.

The group has become a familiar presence at some of Nanming's most iconic landmarks, including Jiaxiu Pavilion, Caozhuangyuan Street, and Qingyun Market. Through regular performances, Qianyuefang presents local culture in a fresh, contemporary style, appealing to both residents and visitors.

According to leader Tan Yi, the ensemble aims to make Guizhou's traditional music more accessible and engaging for younger generations. By combining performers skilled in instruments such as the bamboo flute, pipa, guzheng, and erhu with experienced rock and electronic musicians, the group creates innovative performances while preserving the essence of traditional culture.

Qianyuefang has participated in numerous cultural events and was featured in a live broadcast of a national Spring Festival program celebrating traditional culture. Its performances have helped showcase the cultural charm of both Guizhou province and Nanming district to wider audiences.
