Guiyang's Nanming district has been deepening education reform and is now systematically advancing innovation in its education methods, school operation models, and governance systems, accelerating the high-quality development of local education.
Guided by a district-wide strategy for modernizing education, Nanming has strengthened its overall planning and increased investment in related infrastructure.
Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the district has invested 6.78 billion yuan ($1 billion) in education, optimized the school layout, and implemented a "6+16" high-quality school network.
Through new construction, reconstruction, and upgrading projects, 32 kindergartens and schools have been expanded or renovated, creating more than 20,000 school places. Public school access for migrant children has reached 100 percent, and long-standing issues such as "difficulty in enrollment" and "large class sizes" have been effectively eased.
Alongside hardware improvement, teaching quality has been continuously enhanced. Nanming Primary School's innovative homework system was selected as a national basic education reform case, reflecting ongoing classroom and assessment reform.
The district has also built a tiered teacher development system from "new teachers to education experts", strengthened joint training with universities, and established multiple teaching research platforms, improving overall teaching capacity.
At the same time, schools have developed distinctive education features under the "Five-Education Integration" approach. From campus football achievements to arts and science competitions, students have demonstrated strong overall development and diverse talents.
