China's first fully immersive, multi-sensory fiber art exhibition opened at the Guiyang International Fashion Publishing Center in Nanming district, Guiyang, on June 14, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience art through sight, touch, and participation.
Using fiber as its central medium, the exhibition breaks away from the traditional "look but don't touch" gallery model, inviting visitors to engage directly with artworks and explore the connection between art, everyday life, and human experience.
More than 40 leading Chinese fiber artists are featured in the exhibition, showcasing a wide range of works, including wool weaving, silk embroidery, optical fiber installations, and traditional fiber crafts.

National gift-level artworks and innovative paper-fiber creations are also on display, presenting a comprehensive overview of contemporary fiber art in China.
A highlight of the exhibition is its interactive approach. Visitors not only have the chance to appreciate the textures and craftsmanship of fiber artworks up close but also to participate in hands-on workshops such as wet felting, punch needle embroidery, and weaving, creating their own fiber art pieces.
To bring art closer to everyday life, organizers have developed dozens of fiber-art-inspired products, including home decoration items, stationery, clothing, and lifestyle accessories.
The exhibition will run through Sept 13 and is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm. The extended schedule introduces a full-day cultural experience that combines daytime exhibitions with evening activities, enriching Guiyang's growing nighttime cultural scene.
According to organizers, a series of themed workshops, artist talks, and special evening events will be held throughout the exhibition period, providing additional opportunities for visitors to explore the artistic possibilities presented by fiber and its role in contemporary life.
