As summer temperatures climb across much of China, Guiyang's Nanming district is experiencing strong demand from travelers seeking cooler destinations, with hotels and guesthouses reporting robust booking rates for the peak vacation season.
Nanming has continued to expand and diversify its accommodation sector to meet growing demand. The district is now home to more than 70 major hotels, including 12 star-rated properties, as well as four boutique guesthouses recognized for their quality and distinctive local character, offering travelers a wide range of lodging options.
Rather than relying on seasonal price increases, local authorities have encouraged accommodation providers to compete through service quality, facility upgrades, and visitor experience. Average room rates have remained affordable, allowing tourists to enjoy Guiyang's cool summer climate without significant seasonal surcharges.
To prepare for the influx of visitors, the district has introduced a series of measures to strengthen hospitality services. Hotels and guesthouses are optimizing room availability, enhancing staff training, improving safety management, and expanding visitor services such as luggage storage, parking, and travel information.
Special services have also been introduced for families and elderly travelers to improve the overall travel experience.
Nanming is shifting from a tourism model driven primarily by visitor volume to one focused on service quality, value, and long-term visitor satisfaction. By combining comfortable summer weather with improved hospitality standards, the district aims to further strengthen Guiyang's reputation as one of China's leading summer retreat destinations.
