Guizhou's first industrial brain-computer interface (BCI) project has been launched in Nanming district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, marking a breakthrough for the city's emerging BCI industry.
The project is jointly developed by Guiyang Fuerkang Medical Equipment Co and Shandong Haitian Intelligent Engineering Co. Through technology transfer and patent authorization, it has introduced advanced BCI technologies and established a production base in Nanming.
Shandong Haitian Intelligent Engineering Co is a leading domestic BCI company. Its brain-controlled rehabilitation training system is the world's first robot-based BCI medical device approved for registration and has been recognized by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a first-of-its-kind core technology. The system has been applied in more than 400 medical institutions nationwide, serving over 500,000 users.
The project will introduce several core products, including BCI rehabilitation training systems, cognitive rehabilitation systems, psychological regulation systems, and autism rehabilitation solutions. By decoding brain signals to control rehabilitation equipment, the technologies aim to improve treatment efficiency and support patients with neurological disorders.
Clinical data shows that compared with traditional rehabilitation methods, the products can reduce treatment time by one-third and lower disability rates by about 25 percent.
The project's first phase involves an investment of 20 million yuan ($2.95 million), with the production line expected to be completed by the end of this year and begin operation after obtaining relevant approvals.
The company plans to achieve large-scale production within two years and surpass 100 million yuan in annual output value within three years.
