Nanming district is one of the central urban districts of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province. It covers a total area of 209.34 square kilometers and has a resident population of approximately 1.14 million. With an average altitude of 1,260 meters and an average annual sunshine duration of 1,354 hours, the district has among the lowest ultraviolet radiation levels in the world. Nanming has an annual average temperature of around 18 C, with an average summer temperature of about 24 C, and average annual precipitation of 1,200 millimeters. Rich in negative oxygen ions and boasting clean, fresh air, the district enjoys good air quality for 95 percent of the year, making it an ideal urban area for gathering, business, and living.
Nanming serves as a pivotal transport hub in China's western region, connecting to Guangdong and Guangxi, the eastern coastal areas, and sea-access routes. Multiple major railway lines converge here, and the district houses three major railway stations: Guiyang Railway Station, Guiyangnan Railway Station, and Guiyangdong Railway Station. A network of expressways provides convenient external access, forming a three-dimensional transportation network integrating air, rail, and road transport.
In 2025, Nanming focused on strengthening industries and solidifying its foundations. The added value of industries above designated size increased by 12.3 percent year-on-year, the highest growth rate in five years. Industrial efficiency steadily improved: the operating revenue of internet and related services above designated size grew by 26.7 percent year-on-year, ranking first in the city; the operating revenue of software and information technology services above designated size increased by 7 percent year-on-year, ranking second in the city; and the operating revenue of science and technology service industries exceeded 5 billion yuan ($737.85 million), ranking second in the province.
The district prioritized project development and investment promotion in 2025. Project construction accelerated, with 106 newly registered projects and a 2.2 percent year-on-year growth in annual fixed-asset investment. Taking advantage of policy opportunities, the district secured 1.65 billion yuan in higher-level project funds, including special bonds, central budgetary investments, and ultra-long-term special treasury bonds. Fruitful results were achieved in investment promotion, with 64 new industrial projects introduced and a contractual investment of 10.57 billion yuan.
The momentum of commerce and trade circulation remained positive in 2025, with total sales (turnover) of wholesale, retail, accommodation, and catering enterprises growing by 8.4 percent, 8.8 percent, 11.3 percent, and 8.7 percent year-on-year, respectively. Total retail sales of consumer goods for the year increased by 4.5 percent year-on-year. Cultural and tourism consumption thrived with an array of vibrant activities. The district received a cumulative total of 36.57 million tourist visits, a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent, generating 54.19 billion yuan in tourism revenue, up 8.6 percent year-on-year.
Nanming overcame numerous challenges and optimized services in 2025. The district carried out a number of special actions to stimulate the vitality of various business entities, cumulatively disbursing 21.13 million yuan in support funds, helping 3,903 business entities secure 5.27 billion yuan in bank credit, and assisting in resolving 121 major difficulties facing private enterprises.
